Pitch, Pause, Pace and Power
Can the way you physically hold yourself and how you speak really have an impact on your performance and the impact that you have on others?
Instinctively we all know that if we hold our shoulders back and sit or stand alittle taller that we can instantly feel better about ourselves in the moment. If we stop and think about it we probably also know that filling our lungs with air and tilting our chins up will have a positive impact on our voice and how well we project it.
All good stuff.
But is it possible that by making small tweaks to the way that we physically hold ourselves and the way that we breathe that we can actually improve our performance and have a greater positive impact on others?
If you have watched the Amy Cuddy TED talk then you will know that she shares scientific evidence that proves that this genuinely is the case – the way that we hold ourselves can have a significant impact on our performance. If you haven’t seen it yet – you can watch it here: https://www.ted.com/talks/amy_cuddy_your_body_language_shapes_who_you_are
In this interactive session we will:
Use neuroscience to help explain the link between our physiology, our thoughts and our behaviour.
Practice using various voice tones and language patterns to demonstrate how different the impact can be
Learn more about the Power of the Pause!
